New Retailers in University City

A mix of distinct and diverse new retail options have opened and are planned for our campus neighborhood in 2025 and beyond.
Recently Opened:
Raxx Vintage West opened a pop-up store at 3425 Walnut Street, offering a carefully curated selection of vintage clothing, accessories, and collectibles from the 1960’s through the 2000’s. Raxx’s permanent location is on Passyunk Avenue, and this pop-up is convenient for anyone looking for a local option for vintage denim, band t-shirts, and other retro treasures.
Phone Repair Philly is open for business at 140 S. 34th Street, offering repair services for phones, tablets, and computers. Their store location also offers tech support and a variety of phone and computer accessories.
Coming Soon:
Big Dean's Hot Chicken is coming to Franklin's Table this spring. The Nashville-style hot chicken destination will bring its signature sandwiches, creative bowls, and house-made sauces to the community. This latest addition to Franklin's Table further solidifies Shop Penn's commitment to bringing an eclectic mix of high-quality dining options to University City.
Climbing Collective's newest venture, Philly Rock Gym University City, is anticipated to open in spring 2026. The state-of-the-art bouldering gym will add another experiential element to the retail district and will be housed in a 17,000 sq. ft. space at the corner of 36th and Sansom streets.
