Exciting New Eateries in University City
Some new, diverse dining additions are coming to our University City neighborhood in late 2024. Gouldsburger’s, a casual burger concept focused on providing high-quality food with fresh ingredients, will open in Franklin’s Table Food Hall in late November, offering their signature burgers, cheesesteaks, uncured grass-fed beef hot dogs, vegetarian and gluten free items.
Puyero, located at 3428 Sansom Street, will bring authentic Venezuelan cuisine to the heart of University City along the iconic Sansom Row. Serving up traditional dishes that transport diners to the Caribbean, Puyero will offer dine-in as well as takeout, delivery, and catering, with cuisine that revolves around the arepa, a round corn flour patty that is stuffed with a variety of fillings and enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Other offerings include patacones, tequeños, and a memorable tres leches for dessert.
Van Leeuwen ice cream also opened its 4th Philadelphia-area storefront at 3631 Walnut Street. The company began in a yellow ice cream truck on the streets of New York City in 2008, and their ice cream can now be found in various ice cream shops throughout the United States as well as select grocery stores.
