The Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM) was funded by the federal government as a part of increasing scientific research in the 1960's, and is a leader in the synthesis, characterization, theory, and modeling of entirely new classes of materials.

The Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM) was funded by the federal government as a part of increasing scientific research in the 1960's, and is a leader in the synthesis, characterization, theory, and modeling of entirely new classes of materials. 

 

As part of the University's Century Bond program, in 2022 LRSM underwent a $42.5M infrastructure renovation, including a complete electrical and HVAC upgrade, as well as the installation of a new sprinkler system.
