The Kelly Writer's House was founded by a group of students, faculty, staff and alumni in 1995 to serve as a center for writers of all kinds from Penn and the Philadelphia region at large. One of a pair of surviving Gothic cottages by Samuel Sloan, one of the most important Philadelphia architects of the mid‑nineteenth century whose practice had national impact, this building recalls the essentially rural nature of the area which began to transform after the middle of the 19th century.

- From Locust Walk, proceed through a 29" wide gate along the path to the right of the building. The entrance can be reached by a ramp located on the east side of the building.
- A second ramped entrance is located on the northeast side of the building toward the rear.
There are no elevators in this building. The upper floors and basement can only be reached by stairs.
An accessible single user restroom is located on floor 1.
