The High Bay Research Laboratory houses the Department of Physics and Astronomy's Balloon-borne Large-aperture, Sub-millimeter Telescope, known as BLAST. 

 

The new High Bay Laboratory, constructed in 2021, includes a 1,927 sq. ft., $4M building that includes a crane beam and aircraft hanger style doors to allow the telescope to be calibrated with the night sky.
