Proximity to the adjacent Walnut Street bridge provides access to the upper level of the building.  Locker rooms, offices and other facilities are below, forming the base that elevates the larger auditorium producing a building in which the upper levels project out over the lower levels, a peculiarity of modernism. The exterior is swathed in poured-in-place concrete, continuing even to the cornice that surrounds the roof.
