Annenberg School for Communication
The Annenberg School educates both students and undergraduates in the interdisciplinary field of Communications.
The Annenberg School is a good example of 1960's classic modern architecture, altered and extended by Mitchell/Giurgola Architects in 1987 in a way that acknowledged the character of the original building, but with the richer urban flavor of the architects best work. In 1999 MGA Partners, the successor firm to Mitchell/Giurgola, added two stories to the original building and, as part of the University's effort to enliven Walnut Street, reoriented the building to Walnut Street by adding more glass area to the north facade and creating a new Walnut Street main entrance.
- The main entrance on Walnut Street is level with the ground with automatic doors operated by push plate.
- The south entrance is located in the Annenberg Plaza off Locust Walk with a ramp to the right of the stairs. There are two sets of double doors operated by automated push plate; both sets of doors open outward.
- The main entrance on Walnut Street may be reached from 36th Street Walk by following a ramped pathway through the courtyard between the Annenberg Public Policy Center.
There is an elevator around the corner from the front desk to the right upon entry. This elevator accesses floors 1, 2 and 3.
An additional elevator is located on floor 3 which provides access to floors 3, 4 and 5.
There is an elevator on the far north side of the building that accesses the basement and floors 1, 2, and 3.
There are accessible men's and women's restrooms on floor 1 (ground), 2, and 3.
There are accessible single-user restrooms on floor 1/ground (180A, 180B, 181A, 181B), floor 2 (211-staff only, 233, 234), floor 4 (496A), and floor 5 (597A, 597B).
